In the grand tradition of women who have any influence at all in the media ( even if its just this shitty little excuse for a blog ) I am going to take a minute to take a pinch of Fraulien Maria and a dash Of lady O , and talk about my favorite things .
I will be honest, I just came from a wedding that could be blog fodder for years in and of itself , My friend was on tv today , I burned myself with a glue gun , and I managed to offend the hell out of one of my childhood preachers TWICE today.
There is PLENTY of other shit I could blog about , and I will .
But right now, I want to talk about THIS.
Oprah's favorite things are generally interesting, Maria's are very musical , and well, I don't know ANYBODY who honestly gives a shit about Kathie Lee's favorite things ( furthermore why Hoda hasn't shot her yet, I will never know ), but my favorite things are special because they are mine ! ( lol !) and because you can't but them in any store, and I am not being paid by some billionare to endorse them to make him more money.
To Quote Fraulien Maria, " These are a few of my favorite things . . ."
1. When 'Fluffy' girls like myself have the epiphany that beautiful does not come in a certian size , but rather a mindset , and adjust their life accordingly . They start to take pride in their appearance and believe in their beauty, and their worth and begin to understand that they are sexy just as they are . That transformation is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen , and I NEVER get tired of seeing it !
2. Anytime a female lead in any kind of entertainment is allowed to kick ass, especially male ass, ( think Linda Hamilton in T2 for instance , or Michelle Rodriguez in pretty much everything , lol ! It makes my day ! Seeing such roles in films growing up was the first exposure I had to doing something other than marrying a man and being subserviant to him and squatting out a litter of babies once a year . It gave me hope for something more , and lit the fire of my dreams and ambitions to get out of that town and find my life , and to find out who I was , and not take any shit !
3. Whenever someone stands up for the underdog ! Having survived some pretty horrific bullying as a child , and having witnessed some horrible racial intolerance perpetrated by my father , having never had anyone to stand up for me , i stand up readily whenever ANYONE is being bullied and put down , and it makes my heart soar whenever I see someone else do the same .
4. When someone has the power/ opportunity to tear down someone elses self esteem , and chooses to build it instead .
5. Whenever I catch Kindness in action .
